Melody has the unique ability to "connect-the-dots" pulling seemingly random things together in an understandable way. She is a published author, a past Woodbadge-trained Cub Scout leader, past President of Ottumwa Habitat for Humanity, current member of IHCC Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee, as well as having involvement in various community activities. To her grandchildren she is known as "The Cool Grandma" or "The Grand Matriarch," it depends on their moods.

Bob has the unique ability to understand people's circumstances and help provide them with solutions quickly. He is an entrepreneur, published author, Founder of the Friends of Ottumwa's Parks Foundation, and past President of the Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce, and Ottumwa Noon Lions and is involved with Rotary Club of Ottumwa. He and his wife, Jane, have been involved in many local and regional organizations and boards to help enhance their community. Bob is also a disc golf enthusiast and member of the Iowa Disc Golf Hall of Fame. He is one of the most authentic persons you will ever come to know.
